SURPRISE

The weather in our area has been surprisingly warm the last couple of weeks. Not since 1976 do I remember temperatures above 20C during the month of March. Of course this has triggered the plants to move ahead of their usual schedule. Imagine my joy when I discovered that the strawberries has survived our mind winter and are now ready for another summer of growth!

If it decides to get very cold I shall place the planter in a safer place.
Is anything usual weather/plant wise occurring in your area?

Hallo Heidrun,
Christa

strawberries here are done and all picked, they are really cheap in the stores right now because the fields are ripe for the picking.

Here we had no winter--just two inches of snow the whole season. Then we had weather in the 80s and now we've had five days of off-and-on drizzle in the 50s. Strange.

Peace.

I am having a problem with all the wild strawberry vines that grow in my garden. No strawberries just the leaves.

Everything has bloomed too early. The magnolia trees have already lost their flowers.

How nice that you were able to save your strawberries over the winter! I hope you continue to have warm weather.

Oh, yeah, 7 1/2" of unannounced snow one night a couple of weeks ago, this in an area (Oregon's Willamette Valley) that often gets no accumulation all winter. Ornamental plum trees that were in bloom were hardest hit, with split trunks everywhere.
