Tree Squirrels

   See those huge nests?
For years I thought they belonged to some big birds. Now at the age of 65 I learn that they are created by squirrels! I marvel at the fact that it's possible to learn such a common thing so let in life.
Has this happened to you too?

Would you believe that I just learned that only about two months ago?! Now I am on the look out for those nests! We have a big one in our front yard maple, but I have yet to see squirrels going in or out of it. I keep trying . . .

Thank you for your comments on my blog today. I was a little embarrassed to write it out, but now I'm glad I did. I have been taking it very easy all this long weekend, and feeling almost normal . . . whatever that feels like!

I hope your husband is continuing to heal quickly!

Dear Heidi,
Each day I seem to learn some common sense thing for the first time. Back in 1958, after graduating from college, my best friend married three days after I entered the convent. She sent me a letter beforehand in which she said, "Isn't it wonderful to know that know that we've graduated from a Catholic college we know all we'll ever need to know?" And the tragedy is--that I agreed with her!!!!! How wrong can two people be????

Peace

Oh, no, I always knew what they were because I always saw squirrels coming and going from them, but I can understand your confusion on the issue.

We have traveled to Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada many times. We pass by the Whirlpool. We always assumed that the Spanish Aerocar went from Canada to NY. We realized the error of our assumptions on our last visit to the area. We visited the other side, where the aerocar goes and saw we were still in Canada.

Oh, I learn new stuff all the time. I am beginning to wonder if it isn't really that I have forgotten so much that everything is new again.

I did know this...being born in AL...but there are tons of things I learn every week that I never knew. We all keep learning, and that's part of what makes life fun and interesting! Finding out that the roadrunner eats songbirds was a shock, I can tell you! :-) We had thought he preferred lizards, snakes and frogs, that sort of thing. Like they say...live and learn!
